The game
Throw a sound into the dark and listen to what comes back. The walls answer at different times, from different directions, in different voices — and the room assembles itself in your head. Find the way out before the thing sharing it with you finds you.
Get it on the App Store →Headphones required. Not yet released.
Every echo is computed rather than staged. A wall of glass returns a brighter sound than one of carpet; a far wall answers later than a near one; a corner answers twice. Nothing you hear is a sound effect chosen to suggest a room — it is what that room would actually do to that sound.
So the skill the game asks for is a real one. People who navigate by echolocation already have it. Everyone else can learn it, which is most of what the early chambers are for.
Every menu, every state, every piece of information the game holds.
Turn your head and the room stays put. It is the difference between guessing whether a sound is in front of you or behind you and simply knowing.
No information reaches the screen that the sound does not also carry. The visuals are an accompaniment, not the channel.
A one-time unlock. No advertising, no subscription, nothing that interrupts a game whose whole medium is sound. The tutorial and the first chamber are free — enough to find out whether you can hear a room at all — and the unlock opens the rest.
